Water & Energy Saving Kits

Overview

The Utilities Department has obtained money saving water conservation kits that can reduce water consumption and lower your utility bill. Installation of the devices within this kit can save you thousands of gallons of water each year. At our present cost of water of $4.85 per 1,000 gallons; a typical family of three could save $100- $200 per year depending on their personal usage of water. The kits can be purchased through City Hall for $10.

Included with Each Kit:

  • 2.5 gpm showerhead - A high efficient full volume-low flow showerhead will save you water and energy costs. Energy savings are from reduced usage of hot water.
  • 2 water faucet aerators - Provide better pressure and less flow
  • Toilet tank leak kit - Toilets are usually a main source of water loss, due to faulty flapper valves inside the storage tank. The dye tables provided with this kit are used to determine if water is leaking through your toilet
  • Toilet Tummy - Toilets are the largest water users in your house, most using five to seven gallons per flush. Installing the "Toilet Tummy" will save about one gallon per flush. Considering how often the toilet is flushed, you could save a few thousand gallons per year
