Overview
Wastewater Division
The Wastewater Division operates a 1.4-million-gallon-per-day treatment facility and maintains the sanitary sewer collection system. The wastewater treatment plant was built in 1985 with a major upgrade occurring in 1994. The plant is a modern aeration and biological treatment design and utilizes a ultra-violet disinfection process prior to discharging treated wastewater to the Kansas River.
Water Division
The Bonner Springs Water Division has been in operation for over 100 years. Our water treatment plant produces an average of 1.15 million gallons per day. The source water is pumped from five wells, located on the north bank of the Kansas River, and is filtered to remove iron and manganese and disinfected prior to distribution.
