Overview
In an effort to uphold the life, health, and safety standards of the community, the Nuisance Code Officer (NCO) enforces regulations of the 2015 International Property Maintenance Code, Bonner Springs Municipal Code, and sections of the Zoning Ordinance as it pertains to property maintenance. The NCO also coordinates local volunteers and civic organizations to provide basic maintenance work for elderly and/or disabled residents.
Emerald Ash Borer Pest Alert - A beetle from Asia, called the Emerald Ash Borer, has been identified in Wyandotte and Johnson Counties and will cause widespread decline of ash trees. Larval feeding in the tree tissue between the bark and sapwood disrupts transport of nutrients and water in a tree, eventually causing branches and the entire tree to die. Tens of millions of ash trees in forests, rural and urban areas have been killed or heavily infested by this pest. The borer is inadvertently transported in infested ash trees, firewood, and woodchips. If you believe your ash tree is infested with the Emerald Ash Borer, please call the Kansas Department of Agriculture at 785-862-2180 or visit the
