Community for All Ages

The City of Bonner Springs is striving to become a Community for All Ages by utilizing the tools provided by the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC).

There are three levels of recognition: Bronze for awareness, Silver for assessment and Gold for Implementation. Each level of recognition requires completion of set tasks that can be included in already-existing processes and programs and Bonner Springs is committed to achieving these goals for the betterment of our community.

January 2023, the City will was awarded the Bronze level designation from MARC to reflect the  commitment to become a community for all ages.

Silver Level - Awarded in July 2023

Anticipated Demographic Changes

Why it matters:
  • There are now more people over age 65 than at any other time in American History.
  • Our average life expectancy has risen from 47.3 years in 1900 to 78.3 years today.
  • By 2030, 20 percent of Americans, 75 million people, will be 65 or older compared to 42 million today. The number of those 85 and older will be close to 21 million.
