Group Swim Lessons:
Classes
Group classes will last 30 minutes Monday through Thursday for two weeks. Friday's will be used as weather related make-up days.  

Register
  • Registration begins 10am Monday, May 25th! Come into the Bonner Springs Aquatic Park to see us or register online!
  • Complete a Group Lesson Registration Form

Fees & Times 
  • Preschool & Levels: $35 (resident); $40 (non-resident)

Preschool:

Level 1 (3-5 yrs): Students are taught to feel comfortable in the water using assisted skills. Each child must be at least 3 years old before the first class. 

  • Intro to water: Blowing bubbles; putting eyes, nose and face in water; Bobs, picking up objects off of pool floor. 

Level 2 (3-5yrs or passed Level 1): Students are taught to feel comfortable in the water. Each child must be at least 3 years old before the first class, OR have passed Level 1 to register.

  • Swim Skills on Front: Front float & glide with face in & kick; front crawl arms & kick combined.

Six years & up levels:

Level 3 (6 & up): Students are taught to feel comfortable in the water. Each child must be at least 6 years old before the first class, OR have passed Level 2.

  • Swim Skills on Back: Back float; back glide into back crawl; back crawl arms & kicks combined.
  • Additional Skills: Open eyes underwater; breathing underwater.

Level 4 (6 & up): Students become more comfortable with basic strokes and skills. Child must be at least 6 years old and able to perform skills in Level 3.

  • Kicking; from pool side using kick boards
  • Introduction Arms: forward and backwards
  • Additional Skills: Using ladder and side to get in/out of pool; Jump into water assisted.

Level 5 (6 & up): Students become more comfortable with water. Child must be at least 6 years old and able to perform skills in Level 4.

  • Swim Skills on Front: Front crawl arms; Front glide into crawl; Front crawl with kicking using assistance
  • Additional Skills: Jumping into water unassisted

Level 6 (6 & up): Students develop confidence in skills learned and improve other aquatic skills. Child must be at least 6 years old and able to perform skills in Level 5.

  • Swim Skills on Back: Back crawl arms; Back glide into crawl; Front crawl with kicking using assistance .
  • Additional Skills: Rolling front to back; Treading water.

Level 7 (6 & up): Students develop confidence in skills learned and improve endurance.  Child must be at least 6 years old and able to perform skills in Level 6.

  • Swim Skills on Front: Front crawl without assistance; Freestyle for distance.

Level 8 (6 & up): Students develop confidence in skills learned and improve endurance.  Child must be at least 6 years old and able to perform skills in Level 7.

  • Swim Skills on Front: Back crawl without assistance; Backstroke for distance.

Level 9 (6 & up): Students develop confidence in strokes with rhythmic breathing.  Child must be at least 6 years old and able to perform skills in Level 8.

  • Swim Skills on Front: Master freestyle stroke with rhythmic breathing.
  • Swim Skills on Back: Master backstroke with strong technique.
  • Additional Skills: Streamline underwater; Surface dives.

Level 10 (6 & up): Students develop confidence and endurance with learning proper dive techniques.  Child must be at least 6 years old and able to perform skills in Level 9.

  • Swim Skills: Surface dives; kneeling dives; Deep angle dives; Shallow dives.
  • Additional Skills: Diving off of diving boards; Diving to retrieve objects; Flip turns.

Private Swim Lessons 
Private swim lessons are for all ages and offer a one-on-one approach for learning to swim. Private lessons are tailored to the swimmer's personal goals and needs and are by appointment only. Lessons last 30 minutes.

Register

  • Complete a Private Swim Lesson Registration Form
  • Registration begins 10am Monday, May 25th at the Aquatic Park only.            
  • Registration deadline is the Thursday before the following week.

Fees
 
  • $15/lesson for Residents
  • $20/lesson for Non-Residents
