Benefits for Full Time Employees
Benefit Description 
Deferred Compensation Employee may participate in 457 deferred compensation plans on a pre-tax basis up
to a maximum amount established by the federal government
Dental Insurance  Available at employee's expense
Employee Assistance Program An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available
Health Insurance All full-time permanent employees are eligible for the city's health insurance on the first
day of the month following their initial date of employment
Holidays 10 holidays per year plus a personal day
Retirement  Employee is enrolled in the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) or 
Kansas Police and Fire (KP & F) on the first day of employment 
Sick Leave  0-4 years - 8 hours per month
5-14 years -10 hours per month
15+ years - 14 hours per month
Maximum accrual 60 or 90 days, depending on length of service
Social Security  All city employees are under the Federal Social Security System and contribute a federally
prescribed percentage of their salary to the system which is matched by the city
Vacation  0-4 years - 8 hours per month
5-9 years -10 hours per month
10 - 14 years - 12 hours per month
15+ years - 14 hours per month
Maximum accrual - 240 hours
Worker's Compensation  All city employees are covered by Worker's Compensation insurance
