Employment Application
Recruitment and Selection
- All applicants are required to complete an employment application form.
- Written examinations, interviews, background investigation, polygraphs, tests and other appropriate assessment methods may be used as a screening device for some positions.
- Applicants will be selected for an interview according to their qualifications for the job.
- Depending upon the position, the applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment or post-employment physical and drug test at the expense of the City. If an applicant should refuse to submit to drug testing, they will not be considered for hire.
- All new employees are required to successfully complete a training period of at least six (6) months.

0 – 4 years - 8 hrs per month
5 – 15 - 10 hrs per month
15+ - 14 hrs per month
Maximum accrual - 240 hours |
| Sick Leave |
Hours per month are in the same increments as vacation
(maximum accumulation of 60 or 90 days, depending of length of service).

| Retirement |
Employee is enrolled in the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) or Kansas Police and Fire (KP&F) after one year of service. |
| Social Security |
All City employees are under the Federal Social Security System and contribute a federally prescribed percentage of their salary to the system which is matched by the City. |
| Deferred Comp |
Employee may participate in 457-deferred compensation plans on a pre-tax basis up to a maximum amount established by the federal government. |
| Health Insurance |
All full-time permanent employees are eligible for the City’s
health insurance on the first day of the month following their initial date of employment.

| Dental Insurance |
Available at employee's expense.

| Employee Assistance Program |
An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available. |
