Commercial/Industrial Submittal Requirements

Adopted Code:

• 2003 Edition as Amended
• International Building Code
• International Residential Code
• International Mechanical Code
• International Fuel Gas Code
• International Fire Code
• International Plumbing Code
• International Property
• Maintenance Code
• National Electrical Code 2002 Edition

Design Criteria:

• Wind, 90mph Exposure C @ 3 second gust
• Seismic, Zone 2A
• Snow, 20 PSF
• Roof Classification, Min. Class C Fire Rated
• Flood Plain Info, Base Flood Elevation

Design Submittal:

• Professional Stamp: Each sheet signed and dated throughout.
• Architect/Engineer must certify that plans meet design criteria.
• Two sets of construction plans for review per building.
• 3 Site Plans
• Special Inspections May Be Required For Concrete, Masonry, Soils, etc.
• Complete list of contractors and subcontractors. All contractors and subcontractors shall be licensed with the City of Bonner Springs.
• Rapid Key Entry System (Knox Box) is required on all commercial and industrial occupancies.
• This department will provide a stamped approved set of plans to be kept on job site.

Note: Plans submitted to the Planning Department are not forwarded to the Building Department – A separate submittal is required..

Permit Processing Goals:

The Codes Department will try to meet the following timetable:

• Review Commercial or Industrial Set of Plans within 7-10 days.
• A permit cannot be issued until the Governing Body has approved all Planning documents and Public Improvements for Commercial or Industrial projects.
