Ambulance / Emergency Medical Services

About the Department

The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department responds to calls for service for the sick and injured within the city limits of Bonner Springs. The department was organized in 1976 with a federal grant to purchase two ambulances and equipment. Two ambulance units, equipped for ALS, are housed at the EMS headquarters.

Department staffing, which averages around 45 members, was completely volunteer until February 2001. The department then began operating with a combination of volunteer staff and paid staff. Now there is a crew consisting of a Paramedic and an EMT on duty, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The EMS headquarters is located at 13001 Metropolitan. Chad Cannon, M.D. is the department’s medical adviser.
