Qualifications for Membership

Joining Our Team
If you would like to join our team as a volunteer apprentice firefighter, the following qualifications must be met:
  • Age 18 or older
  • Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED
  • Live within 15 minutes driving time from the fire station
  • Valid drivers license and good driving record
  • Pass drug screen and background check
  • Be prepared to undertake extensive firefighter and medical training
  • Be able to work in physically demanding and stressful situations

Applying for Membership

An application may be downloaded or obtained in person at City Hall, 205 East Second Street. In the fall of each year, applicants are notified to report for orientation and processing to become members of the fire department. Extensive training is provided at no cost during the first year for successful applicants.
